Reading Guide: Bartolome de las Casas

This reading guide is meant to assist students who are reading Brevisima relacion de la destruccion de indias by Bartolome de las Casas. In it, I read from a very old translation of the text. Spanish 3312 students should be forewarned that their reading is abridged and this recording is of the unabridged version of the text. This means that their version will not match completely with what is in this recording. This notwithstanding, my hope is that the recording will be a useful confidence builder for students who are not Heritage speakers of Spanish and who have limited experience with reading in Spanish. I advise students who want or need to make use of this resource to listen to it once or twice and then tear into their reading assignment as they normally would, with dictionary in hand. After listening to this recording, students should feel like they have a good to fair grasp of what they are about to read.
